The Second Presbyterian Church family and friends of Second Pres. are coming and going a lot during summer. And we're seeing and hearing God at work all over the place . This is a chance for Second Pres. to tell each other and the world what we're seeing and hearing.

I have to say if you missed last Sundays service, then you missed out! Between Katie singing "Mountain Top" and Dean's sermon it was a great Sunday to be at 2PC
Mike McGaughan and I visited with some members of 2PC at Heartland Manor yesterday. Marjorie Taulbee shared stories of how God has used her throughout her life. God is indeed faithful to all generations.
This Thursday, I attended a poverty simulation put on by Second Pres., First Christian, University of Illinois Extension, and Mid Central Community Action.
Over 80 people came to the event to experience one hour of poverty so that they could have a better understanding, more compassion, and possibly more patience for those around them living in poverty.
I could see Christ at work in the room as people struggled to make good decisions, feed their family, and pay their mortgages.
In the discussion period after the simulation, one person recognized that there wasn't a church in the simulation. It made me realize that our church, through Christ, can be a light for our own community.

The city of Bloomington is considering buying houses in the 2PC neighborhood for redevelopment and we may be able to partner with them in the future.
